Meditation for Beginners

Meditation for Beginners: To get started with meditation make a commitment to start of 5 minutes per day for a week working up to a full 20 minutes daily! For your meditation choose a piece of music that is relaxing and lasts for the length... of time you wish to meditate for (this stops you from looking at the clock or being startled by an alarm). Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and are in a space with no distractions, turn off the ringer on your phone etc. Not sure where to start? Try this great excerise:
Candle Concentration Meditation:
1) get into a comfortable position
2) place a lit candle in front of you, close enough you can see clearly but not so close that is is a hazard ( about 2 feet away is good).
3) Focus your eyes on the flame of the candle, if you feel tense physically breath deeply into that space and say in your mind I release all tension as I exhale, do the same with stray thoughts.
4) Close your eyes and remain still keeping your concsiousness focused on the centre of your forehead ( third eye) and hold the image od the flame here within you until the end of your music
5) when your song ends slowly open your eyes gazing once more on the candle.
6) Finish by closing your eyes once more and affirming your meditation ie) I am calm centred and connected to my Inner Wisdom or Inner Wisdom Thank You for this Connection.
